James Yap wants to test his injured shooting hand in the Three-Point Shootout of the PBA All-Star Weekend

San Mig Coffee superstar James Yap has finally regained his shooting form in the ongoing PLDT Home TVolution Commissioner’s Cup

And “Big Game James” want to test his shooting arm who was injured before he admitted in the Three-Point Shootout crown in next week’s PBA All-Star Weekend at the Mall of Asia Arena.

The two-time league MVP said the nagging elbow injury on his shooting arm that had bothered him in the Philippine Cup has healed, thanks to the break in between conferences which he was able to enjoy.

Proof of it is his career-best shooting clip from beyond the arc in the ongoing Commissioner’s Cup where he makes 41.2 percent of his shots – a huge jump from his career average of 31.4 percent in 10 seasons.

“Better na yung arm ko ngayon kasi ang sikreto lang naman talaga diyan eh pahinga. Eh naipahinga ko rin naman siya after ng Finals,” said the 32-year-old pride of Escalante, Negros Occidental.

But regaining the three-point shooting title he won for the first and only time in 2008 won’t be easy, Yap said

Yap will trade leathers with PBA top gunners Marcio Lassiter, JV Casio, Gary David, Mac Baracael, Larry Fonacier, Ronjay Buenafe and defending champion Chris Tiu.

Like in most three-point shootouts, the advantage is always on the set shooter.

And Yap pointed out he is no set shooter.

“Ang may advantage kasi diyan eh yung kung sino ang naka-set shot tumira, kasi kapag jump shooter, mas mabilis mapagod sa dulo,” Yap shared to Spin.ph before San Mig’s afternoon practice at the Ronac gym in San Juan.

In fact, the shooting guard out of University of the East suited up in last year’s three-point shootout in Digos, Davao del Sur, but finished dead last among eight contestants.

But this time with his injured shooting hand fully healed, expect a shooting display from “the man with the million moves”.
