Manny Pacquaio to face Juan Manuel Marquez if he beats Timothy Bradley

A fifth fight between Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao and Mexican star Juan Manuel Marquez is already set as what Top Rank has announced.

But Marquez must hurdle Mike Alvarado first on May 17 before he could face Pacquaio. The winner of this match will be the mandatory challenger to the World Boxing Organization welterweight belt which is in the hands of Timothy Bradley.

On the other hand, Pacquiao must also beat undefeated American Bradley in their rematch on April 12 for Bradley’s belt before he could face Marquez once again.

Epic Bout

This development will set the stage for 35-year-old southpaw Pacquiao, 55-5 with two drawn and 38 knockouts, to meet 40-year-old Marquez, 55-7 with one draw and 40 knockouts, yet again in a rivalry that dates to 2004.

Pacquiao fought a controversial featherweight draw with Marquez in 2004, beat the Mexican in a 2008 split decision for the World Boxing Council super featherweight crown and defended the WBO welterweight title with a 2011 majority decision.

But Marquez took a measure of revenge in 2012, upsetting the “Pambansang Kamao” of the Philippines with a devastating sixth round knockout.

For a chance to even the score in the rivalry with Pacquiao, “Dinamita” would have to dispatch American  Alvarado first

Alvarado has a 34-2 win-loss record along with 23 knockouts and is coming off a loss to Russian Ruslan Provodnikov last October that cost him the WBO light welterweight title.

“Marquez has always been on our radar, & he is the one we always wanted to fight,” Alvarado trainer Henry Delgado said in a Twitter posting. “What a fight with such a reward – to fight the winner of Pacquiao vs Bradley.”

Pacquaio-Bradley 2

Bradley won a controversial split decision over Pacquiao in 2012 to take the WBO welterweight crown and defended it last October with a split-decision victory over Marquez.

But many believed that Manny won their first fight and Bradley wants to prove this time that he deserved the victory and wanted to show that it was not a fluke.

This is a great remedy with Manny Pacquaio vs. Floyd Mayweather, Jr. seems very inevitable.
