Air 21 taps Witherspoon-recommended Allen Durham as reinforcement in the Governor’s Cup

The suddenly-inspired Air 21 Express will go all the way once again following an impressive performance in the PLDT Home TVolution Commissioner’s Cup.

The 7th-seeded Express made a surprise by making it all the way to the semifinals but were stopped by the two-time champion San Mig Super Coffee Mixers in an intense do-or-die game 5.

Air 21 survived a twice-to-beat advantage of powerhouse team San Miguel Beermen in the quarterfinals to advance to the semis.

In the season-ending Governor’s Cup, the Express will tap the service of Allen Durham as their reinforcement as Air 21 will try to duplicate its success in the last conference.

No other than Commissioner’s Cup import Wesley Witherspoon, who helped the Express in their campaign with his outside shooting and good penetration, recommended Durham to be their import in the season-ending tournament.

Durham, who is listed 6″6 internationally, played with Witherspoon in France, averaging a double-double for the Nantes club.

“Si Witherspoon talaga ang nag-recommend sa amin. Ilalim ang laro nito, puwedeng power forward kaya may makakatuwang si Asi (Taulava),” said Express team executive Lito Alvarez.

Durham will be the first new import for the Express in the Governors’ Cup in three seasons, with the team previously bringing in prolific scorer Zach Graham for two tour of duties.
