In a news report posted by the Bicol Standard, a portion of what they called as VP Robredo’s pet project collapsed. The collapsed portion of the project is situated at the back of Sto. Nino Memorial Park.
The project of Vice President Leni Robredo, the Naga River Revetment Project measures 5,670 linear meters. The project was launched to revive the Naga River and to provide convenience for the devotees during the annual Penafrancia Fiesta fluvial procession.

Some residents of the areas affected by the collapsed stated that they already observed chunks of the revetment project erode simultaneously. One of the witness also noted that he had earlier told the laborers that he noticed that the foundation was very shallow, and the plastering of the rip-rap was too thin.

Aside from the collapsed portion of the Robredo project, cracks measuring around 150 meters have also started to show. Witnesses noted that if this portion of the cracks is not immediately repaired, it is bound to collapse when the rains come in the next few months.

The DPWH did not release an official statement yet regarding the collapsed portion of the project but Diego Magpantay of the Citizens Crime Watch stated that they are sending a group of investigators to conduct an impartial documentation of the incident.

In ambush interview last September, Vice President Leni Robredo admitted that the Naga River Revetment Project is one of her dream project during the term of his late husband but only during the Aquino administration that the DPWH received around P375 million for the construction of her dream project.
