List of Japanese Companies Who Pledges Investment to the Philippines After Pres. Duterte’s Visit to Japan

President Rody Duterte’s visit to one of the world’s most powerful economies, the country of Japan brought about not only deals and loans but promised investments from some of the leading companies based in the “Land of the Rising Sun.”

The Philippine leader’s visit to Japan brought home a estimated total of $6 billion in investments from Japanese companies which will be made through joint ventures and expansion of operations in the Philippines.

The Japanese companies focuses in manufacturing (shipbuilding, iron, steel), as well as agribusiness, power, renewable energy, transportation, infrastructure, mineral processing, retailing, and information technology among others.

Filipino companies that expressed intention to engage in joint ventures with Japanese firms were Alsons/AWS Information Systems Inc., CIS Bayad Center Inc., Meralco, Newcoast Southbeach Realty Inc., Federal Land Inc., SteelAsia Manufacturing Corp., and Metro Pacific Investments Corp.
