“Robredo, Gusto mo ikaw na, depende, you can have it, you can have it if you want to.” This is the strong statement of Pres. Rody Duterte urging the Vice President to replace him as the country’s Chief Executive.

Pres. Rody Duterte sought to ease fears among his critics who accused him of pushing for Federalism to seek a fresh term by promising to step down next year if the transition to a new form of government pushes through.

The statement of Pres. Duterte urging Vice Pres. Leni Robredo to replace him, if she wants to become the President was made by the chief executive in a speech at the opening of the National Science and Technology Week in Davao City on Friday, July 6, 2018. 

The President also said that the Consultative Committee (ConCom) chaired by former Chief Justice Renato Puno can make a “correction” in the draft Federal Constitution it approved so he will no longer be President during the transition period. 
Pres. Duterte was quoted as saying “In other words, elect a president before you make a transition from unitary to federal. I urge Congress and Puno to make the final changes,” he said.
The tough-talking President of the Republic, Pres. Duterte said he could step down in 2019 if the federal Constitution is already in effect by then.
“Make me President only next year, 2019 and I will accept if that will satisfy ladies. Robredo, gusto mo ikaw na. You can have it,” he said, referring to Vice President Leni Robredo.
