The Bureau of Customs and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) made the biggest illegal drugs bust in the Philippines, busting an estimated 500 kilos of illegal drugs (shabu) at the Manila International Container Port.

According to BOC Commissioner Isidro Lapena the controversial shipment confiscated by the BOC, the illegal shipment was discovered inside a 20-foot-container which was intercepted earlier by the elements of the Bureau of Customs.

The said contraband was allegedly consigned to Decaba Trading International. The shipment arrived last June 28, 2018 at the Manila International Container Port and the operator, ICTSI, sent a notice to the collector of the BOC on July 30 or after 30 days, because the shipment was abandon.

After the notice of abadonment, the BOC is then allowed to open the said shipment but in the process, they were informed by PDEA, that a certain container van was shipped to the Philippines through the MICP containing illegal shipments that’s why PDEA was present during the opening of the said contraband.

The said contraband was misdeclared according to the initial investigations of the Bureau of Customs and the consignee was not even accredited by the agency.

The 500 kilos of illegal drugs confiscated by the BOC and PDEA allegedly came from Malaysia which was used as a transhipment point of the syndicate, before it was delivered to its intended customers in the Philippines.
