The tough-talking President of the Republic, Pres. Rody Duterte unleashed a fit of rage and fumes against the Catholic Priest identified as Father Noel Gatchalian who jokingly wished the President to get sick, following the President’s voiding of Sen. Trillanes’ amnesty.

The former Mayor from Davao City lambasted the unsavory remarks of the priest who speak ill of the President. Father Noel Gatchalian made the following statement during a mass inside the Philippine Senate:

“Sabi pa nung isang pari mamatay ako, ‘wag kang mag-alala father, whether I die today or tomorrow it doesn’t matter to me, tapos na ako, ikaw, kulang ka pa sa happy happy, dagdagan mo ang mga girlfriends mo dyan,” the president said in a speech upon arrival in Davao City.

The controversial priest also added that “Noon pong marami nang kaguluhan ang nangyayari, na winawalanghiya pati ang ating relihiyon, binabastos pati ang ating Diyos, sinasabi ng ating Simbahan na magdasal. Sabi ko o sige magdasal, kaya pinagdasal ko na magkasakit si Digong,” he said.

Pres. Duterte did not spare even the other member of the clergy after the statement of Father Gatchalian became the talk of the town.

The President responded to the statement of Father Gatchalian by saying that “Saan ka makakita ng pari na [humihiling na] mamatay sana si Duterte? Sabihin ko na lang din mamatay sana kayong lahat ng venereal disease lalo na ‘yong mga paring walang perang magkabit dyan sa tabi-tabi,” he said.

Duterte again pressed on the issue of priests siring children and hiding them in an orphanage to describe the Church as “the most hypocritical institution [priests] in the Philippines today.”

“May orphanage kayo, existing now where ‘yong mga anak niyo na sikreto nandyan nilalagay,” he said.
