The Department of Transportation (DOTr) announced through their official Facebook account last October 26 that the third and fourth Fast Patrol Boat (FPB) for the Philippine Coast Guard are now on their way to the country.

The two arriving FPB will be commissioned as “BRP Kalanggaman” and “BRP Malamawi.” The said vessels, the 2 remaining FPBs are now loaded onto the cargo vessel at Saint Nazaire, France and scheduled to arrive on the last week of November 2018.

DOTr announced earlier the arrival in Manila of the first two FPB, “BRP BORACAY” and “BRP PANGLAO”, which was recently commissioned into the government service on 15 October 2018.

Aside from the modern Fast Patrol Boat of the Philippine Coast Guard, the DOTr also revealed that the construction of the Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV270) of 84-meter length is ongoing at OCEA shipyard in France and is scheduled for delivery on August 2019.

Once the OPV will be delivered to the Philippines, it will be commissioned as “BRP GABRIELA SILANG” in honor of Filipina revolutionary leader and heroine María Josefa Gabriela Cariño de Silang.

Under the administration of President Rody Duterte, he made sure that the assets of the DOTr and the Philippine Coast Guard will not be left behind.

The acquisition of the said vessels is being implemented by the Department of Transportation for the PCG under the Philippine Ports and Coast Guard Capability Development Project with OCEA S.A of France as shipbuilder.
