Train Route Traversing Manila and Naga Now Operational Under Pres. Duterte

The Department of Transporation (DOTr) and the Philippine National Railways (PNR) announced the opening of the Manila to Naga and Vice Versa train route.

According to the PNR the Main Line South or MLS which traversed between Manila and Iriga City Albay are now accepting rolling stock materals from Manila to Bicol and vice versa.

The first train from Manila departed on September 20 on their way to Camarines Sur and returned to the City of Manila on September 23, 2019.

The Manila to Iriga train route will pass through San Pablo, Laguna; Lucena City, Quezon Province and Sipocot, Naga City and Iriga City.

Traveling with the said inspection trip of the PNR is the inspection team of the agency, particularly from the PNR Operations Engineering, and the Rolling Stock Management and Planning.

The inspection trip lasted for more than 12 hours and 44 minutes, the trip was from Naga City to Tutuban, the tip was estimated to be faster than three hours, when compared to the normal operation of the train traveling from Naga to Manila.

The inspection was part of the preparation for the grand opening of the PNR route Sipocot-Naga-Legazpi Commuter Service.
