Veteran lawyer and prominent supporter of Pres. Rody Duterte on social media, Atty. Trixie Cruz-Angeles explained in simple terms the possible effects of CPP-NPA’s designation as terrorist organization.
According to the Atty. Angeles, bank accounts may be frozen and bank accounts may be examined to see who deposited, who made withdrawals and who made transfers.
The Philippines as founding member of the United Nations can ask the UN Security Council to also designate the group as terrorist organization.
The country under Pres. Duterte may ask other countries to designate the group as a terrorist and apply the consequences in accordance with their own laws.
The conclusion of the veteran lawyer came out after the Department of Justice through Secretary Guevarra and the Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC) has approved the issuance of freeze orders against all bank accounts of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP), its armedwing, the New People’s Army (NPA), and other groups declared as terrorists by the Anti-Terrorism Council (ATC).
