Clark International Airport Earns Global Acclaim
In Pampanga, Philippines, Clark International Airport has once again been internationally recognized, solidifying its reputation as one of the world’s best international gateway. The new international airport was named one of the “World’s Beautiful Airports.”
This prestigious accolade comes from the renowned Prix Versailles, a platform spotlights exceptional architectural and design achievements that enhance living environments.
The Prix Versailles awards testify to the significant role that laureates like Clark International Airport play in beautifying and improving spaces where people live, work, and travel. These annual awards serve as a showcase of global excellence in architecture and design.
This year, Prix Versailles honored 24 airports globally, standing alongside illustrious peers like Beijing Daxing International Airport, Helsinki-Vantaa Airport Terminal 2, and LaGuardia Airport Terminal B.
Clark International Airport previously received this prestigious recognition in 2021, demonstrating its consistent commitment to excellence.
Nestled within the Clark Freeport Zone in Mabalacat, Pampanga, Clark International Airport commenced operations in May 2022.
The world-renowned airport’s terminal design is a tribute to the breathtaking mountains of Luzon, mainly drawing inspiration from the majestic Mt. Arayat and the scenic Zambales mountain range.
The terminal’s architectural marvel includes soaring ceilings with grand wooden beams, creating a welcoming and visually striking ambiance.
Additionally, the airport’s design incorporates cultural symbols from the local heritage, notably featuring Pampanga’s parol and traditional Christmas lanterns, adding a touch of warmth and authenticity.
The famous giant Pampanga lanterns are recognized nationwide as being made professionally by the hands of the Kapampangans and featuring locally made quality materials. The incorporation of the lanterns into the design of Clark International Airport showcased the elegance of the province’s artistic culture.
It’s worth noting that Clark International Airport is not the only Philippine airport to receive international acclaim. Aside from Clark International Airport, Cebu’s landmark gateway, the Mactan-Cebu International Airport was also recognized internationally.
Mactan-Cebu International Airport, another pride of the Philippines, was honored as the best airport in the Asia-Pacific Region at the prestigious Routes Awards, further solidifying the country’s standing in the global aviation industry.
The Routes Award overall winner was the Singapore Changi Airport, one of the world’s best airports, having the distinction of increasing its traffic to 32.2 million passenger movements in 2022. It was a massive increase from the mere 3.1 million movement of passengers in 2021.
Clark International Airport and Mactan-Cebu International Airport’s recognition as one of the world’s best is certainly an improvement over the previous year’s news that the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) is being named one of the worst airports in the world.
