Netizens took to social media as they reminded Sen. Peter Alan Cayetano of his previous promise that miserably failed but right now he is barking and criticizing the plans of incoming President Bongbong Marcos to reduce the price of rice.

Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano criticized PBBM’s plans by saying that “First time ko narinig, P20 ang rice. Just like any politician nasabi ko, posible ba yun? Anong klaseng pangako yun? But if I am a true Christian, public servant and I really believe in science then hindi pwedeng ganun pag-iisip ko,” Cayetano stated.

The veteran lawmaker added further that “Dapat ang pag-iisip ko maganda ‘yung conclusion. How do we get there? If we don’t get to P20 but we get to P30, hindi ba mas maganda yun kaysa sa P40, P45, at P50,” Cayetano noted.

Despite the announcement earlier made by the incoming Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) Secretary Conrado Estrella III that the P20.00 per kilo rice is indeed doable but the senator doubted BBM’s forecast.

Secretary Estrella was quoted as saying “Siguro P27, P28 pwede pa ‘yan. Pero ‘yung P20 [kada kilo] eh talagang pag-aaralan ko nang husto ‘yan. Pag-aaralan namin nang husto. Talagang magsusunog kami ng kilay para magawa natin,” Estrella stated.

One of the most difficult challenge the country is facing right now is the higher cost of fuels and fertilizers, but the President is a visionary one and his economic team are now working to achieve that goal of bringing down the prices of rice in the country.

The controversial plans of President Bongbong Marcos and his team to bring down the price of rice to just P20.00 per kilo was received with criticisms by the opposition and some lawmakers who are doubtful with the plans of BBM.
