Gilas Pilipinas Line-up FIBA World Cup:

The Philippine Men’s National Basketball Team, more popularly known as the Gilas Pilipinas squad, is now complete after the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas announced on Wednesday the Gilas Pilipinas Line-up for the highly anticipated FIBA World Cup 2023.

So far, there are no surprises in the final 12 of the Gilas Pilipinas squad, which is composed of the most recognizable names in Philippine basketball nowadays.

Here’s the Following List of Gilas Pilipinas Line-up:

  2. Japeth Aguilar
  3. Jordan Clarkson
  4. AJ Edu
  5. June Mar Fajardo
  6. Jamie Malonzo
  7. CJ Perez
  8. RR Pogoy
  9. Dwight Ramos
  10. Kiefer Ravena
  11. Kai Sotto
  12. Scottie Thompson

Based upon the line-up of the Gilas Pilipinas for the FIBA World Cup 2023, it will be the third consecutive World Cup for June Mar Fajardo and Japeth Aguilar.

Fajardo and Aguilar are now considered having the most the number of appearances in a World Cup by any Filipino basketball player in the tournament’s history.

Chris Newsome, Calvin Oftana, Bobby Ray Parks Jr., and Thirdy Ravena were lacking in the list of players or the unlucky omissions.

The Gilas Pilipinas squad will go against the Dominican Republic in Group A this coming Friday at 8:00 PM at the Philippine Arena in Bulacan.

This is also the first time the Philippine team has an average height of roughly 6-foot-5, and is considered the tallest Philippine team roster ever assembled in an international basketball tournament.

Gilas Pilipinas line-up also showcased, based on official records, that no player is officially listed below 6 feet, although Kiefer Ravena is the shortest at just a shade above 6-0. The Philippine Team will also feature the tallest Filipino ever to play in the World Cup.

The Philippine national team featured the youngest player, Kai Sotto, at 21 years and three months old, a slightly older player compared to Joy Carpio, who was just 20 years and four months old during the World Cup.

Gilas Pilipinas’ line-up will also field the oldest player at 33 years and nine months old, June Mar Fajardo, compared to Tembong Melencio, who suited up in 1974 at 34 and ten months old.
