Yonas Kibreab Leads Disney & Pixar’s Film “Elio”:

Another good news for the Philippines and the Filipino people is Pinoy pride: Fil-Am actor Yonas Kibreab leads the Hollywood movie “Elio.” The Pinoy pride will be featured as the lead character of the upcoming Disney and Pixar’s 28th feature film.

The Hollywood movie “Elio” is a captivating science fiction (sci-fi) animated film that takes place in outer space. Based upon the initial release of the movie details, the story revolves around Elio, an underdog who unintentionally finds himself transported to outer space and is mistaken for Earth’s ambassador.

Yonas Kibreab’s voice will bring the character of Elio to life. The young voice actor was discovered when the U.S. Tennis Association noticed his entertaining tennis-related content, leading to his role as a “kidcaster” in the 2018 U.S. Open.

Since Yonas’ discovery as a talented voice actor, he has made significant appearances on the big screen and in various T.V. series, including “Silicon Valley,” “Pupstruction,” “Obi-Wan Kenobi,” and “Sweet Tooth.”

The talented and young Fil-Am actor, a native of Los Angeles, California, is now embarking on a new adventure in the sci-fi film “Elio,” which is scheduled for theatrical release on March 1, 2024.

Joining Yonas Kibreab in the film “Elio” are notable stars such as America Ferrera, known for her roles in “Superstore,” Jameela Jamil, recognized for her performance in “The Good Place,” and Brad Garrett, who has lent his voice to other beloved animated films like “Ratatouille” and “Finding Nemo.”

The movie “Elio” is directed by Adrian Molina (screenwriter and co-director of “Coco”) and produced by Mary Alice Drumm (associate producer of “Coco”); the film features the voices of America Ferrera as Elio’s mom, Olga; Jameela Jamil as Ambassador Questa; Brad Garrett as Ambassador Grigon; and Yonas Kibreab as the title character. “Elio”

Based upon the initial trailer of Elio released online, the character portrayed by Yonas Kibreab depicted an initial encounter between the planet and aliens. They contact Elio’s mother, who seems to be engaged in a classified project to establish communication with extraterrestrial beings. Still, unfortunately, Elio is mistaken to be the Earth’s ambassador.

How Yonas Kibreab Started His Hollywood Career:

Yonas Asuncion Kibreab is a 13-year-old in-demand actor in Hollywood, having been featured in the second season of the Netflix series “Sweet Tooth.” The Fil-Am voice actor was first featured in the 2019 HBO series “Silicon Valley.”

The father of Kibreab was responsible for the virality of his son when he first uploaded some videos of his son on Instagram and Vine. From creating random tennis videos to landing a cosmic lead role, this young Fil-Am shows how one opportunity can change his life and his family in the U.S.

In an interview with the media, Yonas Kibreab said, “How I started really was, I was a tennis player. I played tennis and me, and my dad would make funny tennis-related Instagram and Vine videos. The USTA sent us an email asking me if I wanted to be like a kid-caster at the U.S. Open in New York, which was amazing. And then I got some auditions. I auditioned, and I actually got my first role, which was a commercial for a headphone,” Kibreab said.

The first voice acting Yonas Kibreab was when he was cast as a lead character portraying Phinny in the Disney animated series titled “Pupstruction,” he was part of the cast alongside fellow Filipino actor Eric Bauza.

The first movie of Yonas Kibreab was the 2021 horror film featured in Hulu titled “Into the Dark: Blood Man.” Kibreab was also featured in another Disney series, “Pretty Freekin’ Scary’ and the Star Wars series titled “Obi-Wan Kenobi.”

One of the biggest dreams for Yonas Kibreab as an actor is to work with his ultimate Hollywood actor, Tom Holland, the lead character in the “Spider-Man” film.

In an interview with ABS-CBN News, he admitted wanting to work with Tom Holland: “Spider-Man is my favorite superhero, so I really like Tom Holland,” Kibreab said on actors he looks up to. “I also like Idris Elba.”
