Wei Zhou is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of one of the country’s leading crypto wallet providers, Coins.Ph. He is a dynamic leader for his strategic insights, financial acumen, and passion for cryptocurrency and blockchain technology. 

As the Singapore-based CEO of Coins.Ph Wei has undergone significant changes and expanded his company’s crypto offerings. 

Coins.Ph is a fully regulated fiat and crypto wallet provider in the Philippines. Wei Zhou also served as a strategic adviser and key investor in Old Fashion Research (OFR), a blockchain investment fund founded in 2021 by former executives and investment teams from Binance.

Wei Zhou also served as the vice chairman of Grindr, a dating and social networking app for the LGBT community, in 2016.

Educational Foundation:

Wei Zhou completed his high school education at Vestavia Hills High School and graduated from the prestigious Harvard University. 

At Harvard University, Wei earned a bachelor’s degree in economics and East Asian studies.

Professional Experience:

Wei Zhou’s career began at Goldman Sachs, where he honed his skills as an Analyst and Associate over four years. His dedication and expertise led him to take on key company leadership roles.

In August 2018, Wei joined Binance, one of the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchanges, as Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Wei played a pivotal role in the company’s financial strategy and growth. 

In March 2016, Wei ventured into the tech world as the Vice Chairman of Grindr, a popular dating and social networking app for the LGBT community. His leadership and strategic insights contributed to the success of the platform.

Wei’s career also included roles as Chief Financial Officer at Charm Communications Inc. and Zhaopin.com, expanding his expertise in finance and technology.

Coins.Ph:

In February 2022, Wei Zhou started a new chapter as the CEO of Coins.ph. Under Wei’s leadership, Coins.ph has undergone significant transformations and expansions.

Coins.ph, founded in 2014 by Ron Hose, is the most established crypto brand in the Philippines, with over 16 million users. The platform offers fast, cost-effective, secure solutions for buying and selling cryptocurrencies.

Wei Zhou’s leadership has propelled Coins.ph to new heights, with plans to launch new crypto products and services in 2022. His 20 years of experience in the financial sector have been instrumental.

Under Wei’s guidance, Coins.ph introduced a Game Center and expanded its cryptocurrency offerings to keep up with the rapidly evolving digital landscape.

NFTs and Blockchain Investments:

Wei Zhou’s fascination with blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies extends beyond his role at Coins.ph. 

He is also a strategic advisor and key investor in Old Fashion Research (OFR), a blockchain investment fund founded by former Binance executives and investment teams in 2021. 

According to Wei, he first encountered NFTs through CryptoKitties but initially found the process too complex.

His interest was reignited when he bought NFT racehorses from Zed Run, recognizing the revolutionary potential of NFTs in replicating real-world activities in the metaverse. 

This paralleled his work at Binance, where he led its investment arm and was involved in early investments in projects like Axie Infinity. All these experiences have positioned Wei as a visionary in the NFT space.
