Michelle Dee’s placement in the Top 10 is a significant achievement for the Philippines, as it marks a return to the semifinal round after last year’s early exit, ending a streak that had been unbroken since 2010.

In addition to her Top 10 finish, Michelle Dee was recognized as one of the Gold winners in the pageant’s “Voice for Change” category, alongside representatives from Angola and Puerto Rico. Her advocacy in this category centered on autism acceptance, inclusivity, and empowerment.

The Philippines has a rich history in the Miss Universe competition, with four previous titleholders: Gloria Diaz (1969), Margie Moran (1973), Pia Wurtzbach (2015), and Catriona Gray (2018). Michelle Dee’s presence in the Top 10 continues the country’s strong tradition of participation in the pageant.

Miss Universe 2023 marks the 72nd edition of the renowned beauty pageant, which took place at the José Adolfo Pineda Arena in San Salvador, El Salvador, on November 18, 2023 (corresponding to November 19 in the Philippines).

During this event, the current titleholder, R’Bonney Gabriel from the United States, will relinquish her crown to her successor by the conclusion of the pageant.
