Islander Philippines Is Still Operational and Not Shutting Down

Local-based footwear brand Islander Philippines clarified in an official social media post on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, that the company is not shutting down its operations.

A viral post about the renowned sandal brand made some headlines on social media after one of its outlets said it would cease production on January 1, 2024.

Islander Philippines, however, said its supplies will not be affected by the closure of the Cebu-based manufacturer.

The company clarified, “The recent post circulating is only related to a specific outlet and does not impact the overall Islander brand. You can still order your favorite styles at Footstep branches and department stores near you,” the company said in a Facebook post.

The viral post about Islander shutting down stems from an announcement released on Facebook by Islander Factory Outlet, which announced that they would be closing their doors and shutting down on January 1, 2024.

The FB Page announcement generated more than 2.4 Likes and 1.4 comments, although the Page was not that huge, having only around 5.3K followers.

The local sandal brand is quite popular not only in the Visayas and Mindanao areas but also as one of the most popular sandal brands in the country that also produces the famous Spartan slippers.

Numerous local news outlets spread the news on social media and the mainstream media, getting national media attention.

Meanwhile, an official statement from Islander Philippines clarified that local footwear brands in the Philippines will not close and will continue to produce high-quality slippers for Filipinos.
