Vitalik Buterin Praises Pres. Milei

One of the world’s most-renowned crypto coders, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has expressed admiration for the new course Argentina is charting under President Javier Milei‘s leadership.

According to the veteran author, Vitalik Buterin appreciates the emphasis of the Argentine President’s strategy in terms of his economic leadership, despite criticisms the newly elected President faces for his rapid libertarian reforms.

In a recent interview, Buterin shared his preference for spending Christmas in Argentina, contrasting the country’s situation with that of the United States.

Vitalik Buterin observed that, unlike U.S. political figures, Argentine leaders are more focused on the economy and the needs of the people.

Speaking about President Milei, Buterin noted:

Milei stands out for his distinctive personality and political approach, gaining global recognition. Initially, he may seem uneducated, unintelligent, and eccentric, but upon closer observation, it’s evident that he holds deep-seated, insightful views on economic and monetary policy.

Since President Milei assumed the presidency three weeks ago, he has made significant strides in steering Argentina towards libertarianism.

This includes annulling various laws to diminish the state’s size and power. His first urgent executive order, aimed at rebuilding Argentina’s economy, faces legal challenges over concerns of exceeding its scope.

Furthermore, President Javier Milei has recently proposed an Omnibus law to Congress. This law seeks to grant legislative authority through executive decrees and includes provisions for legalizing undisclosed digital assets, among other initiatives.

Pres. Melie Proposes Legalizing Crypto Assets

Argentina’s President Javier Milei has introduced a legislative proposal to enable Argentine citizens to disclose their cryptocurrency holdings within and abroad in exchange for preferential tax rates.

This move is intended to legalize these assets, irrespective of their origin or location. The initiative to regularize assets is a component of a more comprehensive array of economic and political reforms Milei advocates for.

During his election campaign in November of the previous year, Milei expressed strong support for Bitcoin, a positively received stance by the cryptocurrency market.

However, this extensive legislative package has encountered significant resistance and sparked protests nationwide following its introduction to the general public.
