Pres. Duterte Exposes Speaker Romualdez Plans:

Former President Rody Duterte made an interesting expose about House Speaker Martin Romualdez, who allegedly plans to run for President in the upcoming Presidential election. As the older Duterte noted, he would demand an audit of how the Congressman from Leyte has spent public funds.

During an exclusive interview with SMNI on late Tuesday night, former Pres. Duterte exposes Romualdez, the fourth highest-ranking official, who happens to be the first cousin of President Bongbong Marcos and the former campaign manager of VP Sara Duterte, who wanted to run as President in the next national elections.

The former President also alleged that Congress was “the most rotten institution” in the country and that the public funds needed to demand a liquidation report to see how its members spent taxpayers’ money.

The older Duterte said, “Walang limit ‘yun ano nila diyan, ‘yung pork barrel, pati ‘yan si Romualdez, he’s swallowing (There is no limit to their, their pork barrel, pork barrel, even that Romualdez, he’s swallowing),” he said.

“This Romualdez, Speaker, ‘yan ang-sige bigay ng ano sa congressman, pinabusog niya lahat. Pero sabi ko mag-audit tayo (he gives to congressmen, he filled their bellies. But I say let’s have have an audit) because Speaker is poised to be or to run for president,” Duterte added.

Former President Duterte also pointed a finger at the House Speaker for allegedly orchestrating the attacks against the Vice President, whom the former Mayor of Davao City described as a “good candidate” for the Presidency.

“Alam mo kasi, hindi ko alam kung bakit inaano niya si Inday. Si Inday naman. Inday is perceived to be a good candidate. But I’m saying now Inday, as far as I’m concerned, should not run for president,” Duterte said.

Duterte said that the Vice President is already enough for Inday Sara, and the plans for the Presidency should be given to other politicians.

According to the 78-year-old Rody Duterte, House Speaker Romualdez once hinted about his desire to run for the Presidency, to which Duterte had said “okay” because he was a “friend” then, and “I was not thinking of my daughter.”

Although the former President was still amenable to Romualdez seeking the highest post in the land, he would now demand an “audit.”

“Kung hindi ibigay sa atin yan, I’ll ask everybody from the farmer, the businessmen, to the Church people, to every Filipino, to every soldier and policeman, that will we all demand that we open the liquidation para malaman rin namin kung paano ninyo winaldas ang pera namin,” he stressed.

The statement of President Rody Duterte is the first time we heard from the former President since his daughter, Vice President Inday Sara Duterte, took office in June 2022. The former President is considered the most popular Filipino leader since the year he assumed the highest position in the land.

The former Mayor of Davao City, Mayor Rody Duterte, still tops senatorial preference surveys for 2025. However, he did not directly endorse Marcos during the last national elections; his daughter, the running-mate of Marcos, during the 2022 national polls, got the endorsement from his father.

Rody Duterte’s statement against a sitting politician and exposing his plans to run for President is the first time he publicly spoke about politics and the Marcos administration, including the House Speaker, a close relative of President Bongbong Marcos.
