Sinolog Festival 2024 Winner’s List
The Sinulog Foundation Inc., the organizer of the Sinulog Festival 2024, declared the Pasayaw Festival from Canlaon City, Negros Oriental, and the Banauan Cultural Group from Barangay Guadalupe, Cebu City as major winners in the annual fiesta celebration. Held on January 21, 2024, these groups triumphed in the Free Interpretation and Sinulog-Based categories, respectively, earning substantial prize money.
Canlaon City’s team also secured second place in street dancing and topped the Free Interpretation category for Best Costume and Musicality. Meanwhile, the Banauan Cultural Group from Guadalupe won the Best in Costume award for the Sinulog-Based category.
The Sinulog 2024 festival saw a range of winners across different categories:
In the Free Interpretation Ritual Showdown, the Pasayaw Festival of Canlaon City took the grand champion title, followed by Tribu Kamanting from San Jose, Dinagat Islands, and other groups. For the Sinulog-Based Ritual Showdown, the top spot went to the Banauan Cultural Group of Barangay Guadalupe, with other schools and groups following.
The Best in Musicality award for the Sinulog-Based category was claimed by Banay Labangon of Barangay Labangon. At the same time, the Pasayaw Festival of Canlaon City won the Free Interpretation Musicality award.
In the Best Costume category, the Banauan Cultural Group and the Pasayaw Festival won the Sinulog-Based and Free Interpretation categories, respectively. Lumad Basakanon claimed first place in Street Dancing, with the Pasayaw Festival coming in second.
The Float Category was won by IPI’s main float, with other notable entries following. The Higante Category saw “The Juana After the First Wedding” as the winner, and Angelique Marie Aranas topped the Puppeteers Category.
A total of 21 contingents participated in the Sinulog festival, with 17 competing for major awards. The festival also included a grand parade and ritual showdown with 123 participants at the South Road Properties.
