In an official statement released through their website, Davao Bloggers Society’s President Gem Tadefa said they initiated the DBS Hangout tradition amid the pandemic to maintain the connection with their members. After the pandemic, the hangout evolved into a means of fostering and fortifying relationships with other blogging communities.

The Valentine’s hangout event was well attended by different blogging communities across the Philippines, which showcased a strong camaraderie between bloggers from various communities. Blogging communities, which include Bulacan Bloggers, CDO Bloggers, Iligan Bloggers Society, Iloilo Bloggers, Inc., Negrense Bloggers, Palawan Bloggers, and SOX Bloggers, were present during the virtual event.

DBS President Tadefa, the blogger behind PagesFlipper, also noted that the hangouts involve casual discussions on various topics and sharing stories in a virtual sharing. The DBS has been doing virtual hangouts, but the “Love in the “Love in the Digital Era: Valentine’s Then and Now” is their first Valentine’s Day special since 2020.

The Valentine’s Day special was a remarkable and engaging event, and based on the President’s assessment, it has proven to be the most entertaining hangout to date. The successful online event found common ground in one universal language, which is love, despite the diverse backgrounds of attendees from eight different regions.

Prominent freelance marketing consultant, social media, and event specialist Michael “Manay” Carbon hosted the hangout with his captivating personality, ensuring attendees remained focused on the conversations. Bloggers from different parts of the country were engaged in lively discussions exploring the difference between love in past generations and the digital age.

Some topics discussed during the DBS-organized online event range from long-distance relationships to expressing love through technology and love languages. Bloggers, speakers, and partner brands shared their personal experiences, opinions, and insights, promoting a lively exchange of ideas.

Some of the partner brands that graced the hangout event include Jainy Carilla of DMS&A Co., Kim Vargas of MetroBank, Ripple8’s Julius Macalagay and Michelle Opple, Jarren Mateo and Erwin Colcol from Cebu Pacific. Various games, trivia, mini-quiz, and giveaways were given to lucky winners. One of the high-ticket prices given away was the two roundtrip tickets to any destination from trusted airline Cebu Pacific.

Foodpanda, the co-presenter of the virtual hangout, gave everyone P500.00 Foodpanda gift vouchers. The food and grocery delivery platform has a promo to get 200PHP off for selected Foodpanda food merchants. Just enter the code PANDA; Terms and Conditions apply.

Davao Bloggers Society’s President Gem Tadefa also highlights that there will be more events for everyone in 2024. However, he cannot disclose everything, but they are working on something exciting, and content creators should stay tuned.
