One of the world’s leading crypto news websites, CoinGeek, interviewed Ken Berey during the sidelines of the AIBC Summit Manila as he released updates about the recent development in the highly anticipated release of SurgePay.

Ken Berey, or Kenneth James Berey, is the CEO and founder of the first and only Web3-focused Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) in the country, the Blockchain Network Philippines (BNP), a company he founded from a humble beginning.

During the exclusive interview with CoinGeek, Ken Bery talks about how Blockchain Network Philippines became the first and only Web3 business process outsourcing company focused on the marketing side-specializing in Marketing Strategy and Community Management.

The founder of Mindanao Blockchain Association, Ken Berey, is best known in the Web3 industry as the Philippine Brand Ambassador working with top-notch Crypto projects. A prominent Web3 Speaker and Entrepreneur shared some insights as one of the speakers in the AIBC event held at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines, last July 20-21, 2023.

Ken Berey joined some of the most prominent individuals not only in Web3 but also in Web2 and the government, such as Pagcor Chairman Alejandro Tengco, SEC Commissioner Kelvin Lester Lee, Kumu Co-Founder James Rumohr, actor Aaron Maniego, Coins.Ph country manager Jen Bilangco, Block Tides CEO Myrtle Ann Ramos, Blockchain Council of the Philippines’ Chezka Gonzales, Crypto Educator Luis Buenaventura, BreederDao’s Renz Chong, Tier One CEO Tryke Gutierrez and DITO CME COO Dr. Donald Lim.

According to Ken Berey in his interview with CoinGeek, his company currently has 32 crypto projects, 12 in the pipeline, wherein he helps raise funds by connecting them to venture capital. Twenty-five venture capitalists back the company, and when it comes to connections, BNP has lots of connections. He reiterated that these are not just local but international companies.

The self-made entrepreneur revealed during the interview that he was able to get those connections by going into different countries, speaking about crypto projects and the happenings in Asia and the Philippines, and those companies already knew his credibilities, expanding three years of experience having lots of achievements that they provide with their clients.

Updates on SurgePay

The entrepreneur and Web3 educator also shared some updates regarding the highly anticipated projects he is servicing locally, the SurgePay app; he revealed that one of the company’s focuses is remittances and crypto-to-fiat and fiat-to-crypto.

Ken Berey noted that one of the problems right now is not only about education but how to connect Web2 to Web3 and motivate Web2 to enter the Web3 space. All they need is to try, invest, test, and know what crypto is all about

So Ken noted that it is all about how to bridge the gap between Web2 and Web3 and assured them that Web3 is safe, and stated further that the app SurgePay is now available for download on Android and iOS.

Based on their research, the SurgePay consultant also revealed that there are P34 billion worth of remittances per year. The Philippines is very rich in remittances, bringing money to the country. He also noted that Filipinos are No. 3 regarding Metamask users due to play-to-earn games, and even university students are open to crypto. Based on research, 51% of Filipinos are curious about Web3.

This is why he wanted to open crypto to every Filipino by buying and selling different cryptos, and he also recognized the problems regarding having some cryptos in terms of regulations or the banking system, so as a member of the crypto community, it needed to be more fair.

Ken Berey also revealed that helping build SurgePay is somewhat personal because his mother is an OFW bringing remittances to the country. That’s the reason why SurgePay will now focus first on the Philippines and then make some partnerships with Taiwan, Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, and other countries to connect.

SurgePay had some advantages, according to Ken Berey, because they are using blockchain technology for faster transactions compared to other forms of remittances. Ken Berey is also interested in collaborating more regarding Web3 education in the Philippines and worldwide.
